A man is in hospital suffering from severe smoke inhalation and burns after a flat fire in the Borders.
Firefighters were called to Langlee Drive in Galashiels shortly before 23:00 on Monday to discover the living room of a first-floor property ablaze.
Six crew wearing breathing apparatus and using a high-pressure hose reel extinguished the fire.
A man, aged 68, was taken from the flat by firefighters. An investigation into the cause of the blaze is under way.
