* Policeman killed in m-way smash
A lorry driver arrested in connection with a collision on the M1 near Wakefield, which killed a policeman, has been released on bail.
PC Mark Goodlad, 41, was hit after going to the aid of a woman who had broken down on the hard shoulder of the southbound carriageway.
The lorry driver, a 44-year-old Oldham man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The 51-year-old woman suffered minor injuries in the collision on Monday.
PC Goodlad, from Goole in East Yorkshire, was in a marked police car when the accident happened at 16:15 BST between junctions 40 and 39.
Police said that at the time of the incident he was standing between his marked BMW X5 and the woman's Suzuki Swift.
He was later airlifted to hospital, where he died.
West Yorkshire's chief constable Sir Norman Bettison said the officer had "paid the ultimate sacrifice".
