An 85-year-old man was tied up and robbed at his East Sussex home after answering the door to three men.
The men asked the Hartfield pensioner if he wanted a gardener before forcing their way into his home.
They tied his hands with tape before searching the house, taking three abstract paintings.
The suspects are described as being in their 20s. Two men are white, one with mousy hair, and the third man was black and was wearing a black jacket.
The victim managed to untie himself and raise the alarm.
Kent Police said he was left badly shaken and distressed after the attack.
